I’m India the owner and founder of Naava’s Light Candle Co. Naava’s light is a one woman black owned small business that started in a 2 bedroom apartment once shared with my sister. Being a creative and having a passion for design, I always knew I wanted to create something but had no idea what direction to go in. With a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Management, my dreams were to ultimately become my own boss one day. All my life I have been described as eclectic, so it was no coincidence that I had a million different ideas on paper that I wanted to bring to life.
While watching an episode of “Orange Is the New Black” one day, it was like a light bulb went off. I saw how the main character Piper would create these amazing homemade soaps in her kitchen and I honestly wanted that for myself. Maybe not so much creating soaps, but more so the idea of pouring love into creating something from scratch that I knew I would be proud of. Fast forward to 2018, I would begin to breathe life into my passion for entrepreneurship. After finding out I was pregnant with my first child, my passion for home fragrance grew more. Shortly after the birth of my daughter Naava (meaning beautiful in Hebrew), my love began to overflow with the idea of building a brand from the ground up that would one day be hers .
After much thought and consideration, I decided not to return to my extremely stressful job and become a full-time stay at home mama. I thought to myself “what better time to start something I’m passionate about then to do at home”. I loved every bit of being a first time mom but let’s be real, there is no amount of preparation to understand just how hard it would really be. The walls were really starting to cave in on me and I knew I had to bring this dream of mine to life. A fire was lit under me after feeling myself slowly drifting into a complete stranger (sleepless nights will do that to you – lol) thus birthing my second baby Naava’s Light Candle Co.
My love for creating highly fragranced candles and wax melts is blended into every product I create—making each handcrafted pour one of a kind. With each product poured, labeled and packaged by hand, I take pride in making sure my products are of exceptionally high quality while still offering that home feeling of being a small batch company. My goal at Naava’s Light Candle Co. is to enhance your way of life by providing you with small batch luxury home fragrances I know you’ll love.
